Finding Your Perfect Size
A Guide for First-Time Boot Buyers
Choosing the right size for your first pair of boots can be a bit confusing. Our boots follow standard boot sizing, which tends to run larger compared to typical sneakers. As a general rule, if you usually wear EU 42 in sneakers, we recommend selecting EU 41 for our boots. This ensures a proper fit that balances comfort and support, allowing the leather to mold to your feet over time.
We want you to shop with confidence, knowing that we accept return and exchange requests in accordance with our guidelines. Please review the following conditions before proceeding:
- The boots must be in their original, unworn condition, with no damage to the upper.
- The return tag must remain intact.
- If the return or exchange is not due to our error, the customer is responsible for the shipping costs.
- Requests based solely on personal preference, rather than product quality or sizing issues, cannot be accepted.
If you need further assistance with a return or exchange, feel free to contact our customer support team.
1. General Leather Boot Care
Leather is a natural material that evolves over time. To maintain its integrity:
- Break-In Properly – Wear your boots in short intervals initially to allow the leather to mold to your feet. A quality leather conditioner can help soften them slightly if needed.
- Keep Dry, but Conditioned – Leather needs moisture balance. Over-drying causes cracks, while excessive moisture leads to mold and stiffness. Store boots in a well-ventilated area, away from direct heat.
- Use Shoe Trees – Cedar shoe trees absorb moisture and help boots retain their shape, preventing unwanted creases.
- Rest Between Wears – Avoid wearing the same pair daily. Leather needs time to breathe and recover.
2. Cleaning & Maintenance by Leather Type
Full-Grain & Smooth Leather
- Dust & Dirt Removal – Wipe with a soft horsehair brush or damp cloth after each wear. For deeper cleaning, use a pH-balanced leather cleaner.
- Conditioning – Every few months, apply a high-quality leather conditioner to maintain suppleness. Avoid over-conditioning, as it can clog pores and weaken structure.
- Polishing – Use a cream-based polish for nourishment and a wax polish for added protection and shine. Buff with a soft cloth for a deep, rich patina.
Suede & Nubuck
- Dry Brushing – Use a suede brush to remove dirt and restore the nap. Brush in one direction for an even look.
- Stain Removal – For light stains, use a suede eraser or cornstarch for oil marks. Avoid excessive moisture, as it can cause discoloration.
- Waterproofing – Suede is vulnerable to moisture; apply a suede protector spray periodically to repel water and stains.
Tea-Core & Waxed Leather
- Cleaning – Wipe with a damp cloth; avoid strong soaps or excessive scrubbing, as these leathers are designed to develop patina naturally.
- Conditioning – Apply a thin layer of wax-based conditioner to maintain flexibility while enhancing the aging process.
3. Sole & Construction Care
Rubber Soles
- Regular Cleaning – Wipe with a damp cloth to remove debris and prevent buildup.
- Avoid Harsh Chemicals – Prolonged exposure to oil, gasoline, or harsh chemicals can degrade rubber over time.
Goodyear Welt Maintenance
- Keep Dry & Clean – The welt stitching should be kept free of excessive dirt or moisture to prevent rot.
- Resoling – Goodyear-welted boots are built to last. When the soles wear down, take them to a reputable cobbler for resoling instead of replacing the boots.
4. Storage & Seasonal Care
- Long-Term Storage – Keep boots in dust bags or shoe boxes, and use boot shapers to maintain form. Avoid plastic bags, as they can trap moisture.
- Winter Care – Salt and snow can be damaging. Wipe boots after exposure, and apply a protective balm to leather for added resistance.
With proper care, your boots will not only last but also develop a beautiful patina that reflects years of adventures. Treat them well, and they will reward you with unmatched durability and character.
